Antarctica doesn’t have its own time zone because it’s too remote! Scientists working there follow the time zone of the country they’re from, or the time zone they find most convenient for their research. So, if you’re planning a trip, don’t expect regular hours.

In 2004, an ice marathon was held in Antarctica. Runners braved freezing temperatures to complete the 42.195 kilometers (26.2 miles), all while wearing layers and battling icy winds. Let’s just say the phrase cool runnings took on a new meaning.
